get a lot of stuttering in most resolutions with some stuff disabled and
with the rename EXE trick.
So maybe I will wait for the new ATI driver or get more RAM. Whenever
there are a few guys on screen at one time, the hard disk start chirping
away.
This is definitely a game that needs a gig of RAM. Theres a 5.12 beta driver
on the net that does improve performance in FEAR but that may well be
because it sorts the AI bug in the older drivers.
But, also, I have another computer with a 6800 but no DVD drive. Is there
a way to move the game onto that system?
Its pretty easy to take a DVD drive out and hook it up to another PC
temporarily just to install one game. Dont bother patching it - just get a
crack for version 1.0 from www.gamecopyworld.com - dont worry about
multiplayer and ignore the "do you want to update" messages you get every
time you load the game. (Bloody annoying is that) Enjoy the single player
game on a 6800.
