Faxing

B

Bob Day

Using Windows XP Pro all latest update -

I don't send many faxes, but when I do I send them via the modem and there
is just no easy way to do this. Usually the document is in word and open
ready to fax...
The options I have are all very awkward and time consuming ...
- File|Print change printer to fax, fax, remember to change printer back to
inkjet
- File|Send to|Recipient Using Fax Modem walk through cumbersome wizard
- Dell provides a fax utility, and it is just as bad.

Is there a simply way to send a fax, like clicking on the Send button for
emailing? Is there a utility I can buy? I realize there are programs like
winfax pro out there, but that just seems like massive overkill.

Thanks
Bob

There is a faxing utility that comes with XP. You have to have the X
CD.
Go to the control panel. Add and remove programs icon. Look on th
side panel for add/remove windows componets. Check the faxing service
icon and follow the wizard instructions.

the program is free. (you have to have service pack2 installed)

The simplest way is a stand alone Fax machine. Next best would be a
commercial Fax application like WinFax. If you have Internet, you can also
hire an Internet E-Faxing service:
