Faxing a doc

[Frustrated with word]

I am not able to fax a word doc.
I followed Knowledge base how to trouble shoot faxing:

I followed it to the letter. Still no faxing.

Problem details:
1. I write a doc.
2. I select printer name: fax.
3. I select a contact from outlook.
4. I send the fax.
5. I hear a dial tone with the fax beep.
6. I hear the other fax answer. The speaker goes quiet.
And that it! No fax sent.
I check the fax monitor: nothing is sending.
I check the fax console: It thinks it is sending a fax.
I check the phone: I have a normal dialtone.
I call the person who was to receive the fax: NO FAX!
I tried sending faxes to different people. Nobody
receives my fax. What is the problem here? Anyone know?

I have a second computer with Word Perfect9. And windows
xp. It has no problem sending a fax.

You give a lot of details, but you don't say what FAX sending software
(or FAX machine for that matter) you are using.

If you are using standard XP fax software, it's normal for for the
speaker to go quiet when the other machine answers. It coujld be that
hte other machine is broke. Call them on the voice phone.

Test your fax sending capability by sending a fax to a nearby fax
machine and see results.

In addition (Instead of?) to reading Knowledge Base articles, read the
"Help" on the FAX machine or software you are using. It will tell you
specifically how to do it.

Despite your message subject this is a fax issue and not a word issue. Word
has no fax capabilities, it merely uses the fax driver as a type of printer.
Check the fax driver - properties - devices - properties and ensure the
enable device to send check box is filled. If that is OK, then you need to
checkout the modem configuration.
Have you tried sending a fax simply from the fax software, without
involving word? (Windows > start > programs > accessories > communications >
fax )
