While in Word I tried to send a fax. I set up the first page & attached the
fax to send. The send fax window came up & I clicked on "send fax".
The first page & fax printed out but was never sent. I would guess that
the fax application has to be set up first. Is there a URL that gives
this info? Thanks in advance.....marvo

What type of internet connection do you have? Norton Winfax Pro and I think the Windows XP programme will only run using a 56k modem. You cannot run them over a broadband connection. You also need to be aware that putting a fax service onto an ordinary telephone line and setting it up to automatically receive can make for problems receiving incoming telephone calls. If you are serious about faxing off your computer you are best served by having a dedicated telephone line.

I learnt only after a frustrating month trying to get it to work. It works fine now but only when I had addressed the issues I have highlighted.

Hope this helps.

Might I add, you don't have to have a "dial-up" ISP to use FAX, just a
dial-up modem and a phone line. That is to say, if you use broad-band
service, there is no need to spend money on another service. I'm not sure
about this but, I think I read that you could use a slower than 56k modem
with the native XP FAX program.

If you've got DSL broadband you can use the dial-in-out FAX on the
same line you use for the internet. Put a Y adapter in the line at the
wallplate and hook one side to the DSL modem, and the other to the
internal 56k modem on the PC. You need to use a DSL filter
on the 56k modem leg.
