Fax service will not start

B

Bill Todd

Running Win2k Server SP3. The Windows fax service was working on this
machine a couple of weeks ago. Now it will not start. If I try to
start the service manual from the Services app I get a dialog with the
message,

"Could not start the Fax Service service on Local Computer.
The service did not return any error. This could be an internal
Windows error or an internal service error.
If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."

If I try to open the fax management console I get an error saying it
could not connect to the fax server. There are no errors in the system
log.

Is there any way to uninstall and reinstall or repair the fax service?
I really do not want to have to rebuild the computer from scratch.

Thanks,

On Win2K, there is no way to uninstall/reinstall Fax Service. Can you give
more details on what changed - did you install SP3 recently or any other hot
fixes?
