fax receiving locks system

Received faxes will lock up the system on a newly rebuilt computer. All other
functions are fine. The same fax/modem was used in the previous system that
received faxes just fine. I uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled but the
problem recurs after about ten faxes.
Anyone have any suggestions? I tried to find an updated modem driver, but no
luck.

Thanks

I would begin by checking the motherboard BIOS is the latest version.
Then, if it's an internal modem try another slot. If this does not work
then calling the modem manufacturer might get you some help.... that
said, it sounds like a software compatibility problem and you may have
to resort to another modem.

Thanks for your quick response.
Before I heard from you I found and installed an updated modem driver and it
seems to be working fine ever since. If the problem recurrs I'll update the
BIOS. Or do you think I should update the BIOS anyway?
Thanks again.

If it's working then I'd leave it well alone!
