fax printing problem

Steve

Hi

I have a Win2000 workstation with modem to receive fax, and it is set to
print incoming faxes directly to printer.

It prints fine. The thing is ... after it prints, the printer queue still
has the job showing with the status "Printed". And, it would do this for
all the incoming faxes.

The real problem comes when the PC is shut down and restarted. All the
faxes with "Printed" status in the queue would be sent to the printer one
more time. The queue would then be emptied out.

Sometimes the workstation would only be restarted after 2 or 3 weeks period.
This caused all the faxes shown in the printer queue to be printed all at
once. So, I was wondering where all these old faxes now coming out again
all of a sudden.

To avoid this problem, I open the printer queue and select Cancel All
Documents. This clears out the queue, and no reprints occur aftera reboot.

Please help.
Thanks
Steve

Check on the Advanced properties of the printer: Is "Keep printed
documents" enabled? If so, this will cause all jobs to remain in the
Spooler folder

Also, check make sure that your print job files aren't "read-only" (see
216221:" Windows 2000 Print Spooler Does Not Delete Print Job Spool File"
support.microsoft.com/?id=
216221)

Let me know if any of this helps,

Hi Jason

-The "Keep printed documents" checkbox is not checked.
-The user has full access to the Spooler folder.

Any other idea?
Steve

It's possible that your antivirus software is scanning the spooler files,
block their deletion.
Ensure that this is disabled
