Fax interferes with CallerID in Win2K3?

I'm trying to log Caller ID info from the Fax modem located in my Windows
2003 server. When the FAX is setup, the CallerID software does not see the
modem ringing.

The Fax service is set up for manual answer, and I do get the popup box in
the System Tray telling me that the phone is ringing from the Fax service.

Is there any way I can keep the Fax service AND log CallerID info? Can the
Fax service keep a log of Caller ID info? We just want a list of numbers
(and names if possible) of calls that were detected by the modem.

Our modem is a SupraMax 56i modem that works fine for faxing out and
recieving faxes (calls are detected and them we choose to manually answer).
With Fax services disabled we do get Caller ID info from our software.

I didn't quite understand where exactly is the problem in logging caller ID
info with Fax service running.

We do have a feature called 'Activity Logging' which captures 'Caller ID'
info among other things provided modem is properly capturing the 'Caller ID'
& the remote station is sending it.

Please refer to Help of Fax Client Console or Fax Service Management Console
for more information on 'Activity Logging' & the location of logs. I guess
the default location for activity logs is at '%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\ActivityLog'.

Thanks for the reply!

I did turn on logging and there are call logs, but I don't see any Caller ID
info. The Caller ID is working on our phones so I'm going to assume that the
modem or drivers don't offer the support.

Now that I know what to expect I'll test another modem

XP Fax Modem Driver Caller Id Log / Found It!

Just open the fax console, by clicking on the fax icon in your printers folder.

Goto Tools>Fax Monitor> then on that popup, go More. Yule See!
