Thanks Ramesh
i fixed the values like u said and everything start running fine.
but the problem keeps coming back. after some time while surfing the
internet and staying on legit sites the ie generates error and
closes. and when i start back again same thing all favorites are
gone. and a new folder is created in c:\winnt\favorites
both values in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
are changed back to c:\winnt\favorites on their own.
i dont know if it is the some kind of spyware but i couldnt find any
on my computer
or is there some internal problem with internet exporer.
i have win2000 and ie version 6.0.2800.1106, sp1 128bit
mostly the websites i was surfing was msnhotmail sites, and other
news sites from mymsn sites. so i dont thing that there is any
spyware from these sites that are changing the values in my registry
without my knowledge.
strange thing is that no new favorite sites are added only the link to
location are changed and new favorites folder in created in winnt
folder by itself.
i think there is definitly some problem with ms ie
First eliminate any scumware.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
