Favorites list

Hi,

I can't find this info anywhere - my favorites
in IE6 won't change their order, even when
I rearrange the whole list in organize favorites
the list reverts to the (its) original order which
is very inconvenient.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Forget organize.
If you want to sort...

Use the menu option Favorites (menu option as in
File-Edit-View-Favorites-Tools-Help)
and when a favorite flies out, rightclick on it and select "Sort by
name"
Don't use the Favorites panel. It must be the menu option or you may
also do it from Start-Favorites

Thanks Alan but this method isn't permanant either - as soon
as i close then reopen they're all over the place again; unless
I've misunderstood you ?

There is a value in the registry which saves a custom order called Order.
Perhaps if you have some "security" software active which was preventing
that value to be written it would just keep a default order (e.g. sorted)?

Try disabling *all* such programs before testing. Also make sure that
the associated registry key is not read-only. Run RegMon to find out
if the value is being accessed but not saved. Etc.

Thanks

Good luck

Not the case I'm afraid; I've followed your instructions to the letter
and sorting is never permanent; in any case I believe I should be able
to keep any order I wish , shouldn"t I, not just alphabetical,
but this favorites list always reverts to its original config
