Favorites folder displays Windows directory!!

Hi all

User has a problem I've never seen before: When they click on the Favorites pull down either in IE or in My Computer the Windows directory is displayed in its entirity! Navigating through Explorer to the Favorites directory shows me that all the favorites are still there. Somehow, the Favorites pointer has moved to the Windows Directory

I've searched MS Knowledge Base, but haven't found anything related

Has anyone seen this before, and more importantly, does anyone know how to rectify this? Any advice would be appreciated

Thank

Jeremy.

Are there multiple users on this system, and if so are any other user
experiencing this?

I poked around in the Registry and I think I found where Windows X
keeps this. Open up regedit and browse to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Windows\Curren
Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders\

With User Shell Folders selected you'll see a bunch of values to th
right, like Desktop, Cookies, Temp and...Favorites. The value fo
Favorites should say

%USERPROFILE%\Favorites

If it says anything different, change it to that. If Favorites is no
there, add it and give it that value. Changing this value changed th
location of my Favorites in IE (WinXP SP2)

< edit> I was poking around further, and I found similar entries in:

HKEY_USERS\software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Use
Shell Folders\

Try that if the above fails. < /edit
