favorites difficulties

I am unable to save items to my favorites. I can save a shortcut then move it
to where I want it but that is tedious. Running Vista Home Premium and
Internet Explorer 6

You should have IE7 with Vista Home Premium, not IE6.
Please try the IE7 group.
The recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general
