Internet Explprer 6 Favorites

I exported Internet Explorer 6 Favorites to a CD as a Backup. I am running
Windows XP Home Edition. The other day, Windows became corrupted and I had to
reformat the hard drive. Today, I wanted to restore my Favorites and went
into IE/Import. I located the Favorites file on the CD and tried to import
it. Instead, I got yher following message:
SELECT BOOKMARK FILES InternetExplorerFavorites.htm.
You do not have permission to save in this directory. See the administrator
to obtain permission Would you like to save in the My documents folder
instead?

Any clues as to what happened and how I can import these favorites;
incidentally, I am the only user of the computer and am designated as the
administrator.

Copy the file to My Documents and make sure it is not Read Only and import
from there.

Did as you suggested and got same error message several times: "ERROR
APPLYING ATTRIBUTES" An error occurred applying attributes. I've
obviously
done something wrong, but don't know what??????

If you copied the .htm file to My Documents and then right clicked it and
unchecked Read Only then I don't know. You cannot change the attributes
while it is on the CD.

Another issue you probably can help me with. On this, or any posting, when
I
open the email notifying me of a response, click on Read and Rate This
Response, sign in, I click on the response and the pane to the right on
the
screen opens, but is blank except for "Was This Post Helpful to You"
appears,
but nothing else-can't even open my original, or anyone elses, posting.
Figure it's a setting that resulted when I reloaded Windows XP Home
Edition,
IE6, and OE6. Any thoughts?

Hi Don :)

Are your Favorites files in a folder on the CD? Or are they a backup
program type file? If they are just regular files in the folder, copy the
folder to the hard drive, then open the folder in Windows
Explorer>Edit>Select all>Copy and paste the files to the Favorites folder in
your User accounts on the hard drive, and do the same for as many other User
accounts that you want to use the same Favorites for as well. Be sure IE is
closed before you paste the Favorites to the User Favorites folders. Then
when you open IE you should see the Favorites there.

Hope this helps.

Jan :)
