Dear Customer,

Thank you for posting in newsgroup.

According to the description, the issue is that nslookup.exe cannot work
after Windows Vista SP1 was updated on the operation system.

Based on the description, this seems to be application crash issue. I would
like to suggest that you contact Microsoft Product Support Services via
telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can provide you with
further support. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology
request please take a look at the web site listed below.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS

If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for
regional support phone numbers.

As this issue happened after you installed Vista SP1, it seems that this
update is not installed properly. Before submit the request, I would like
to suggest you download the Windows Vista Service Pack1, and then
re-install the Service pack 1.

You may download Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone
(KB936330)

For more information, please refer to:

Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Hope the issue will be resolve soon.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hi,

thank you for your advice. I reinstalled Service Pack 1 using standalone
installer which resulted in the same behavior. I can also reproduce this
problem in virtual machine (clean Vista RTM English Ultimate installation +
SP1 RTM applied after installation).

The problem is in change behavior of nslookup.exe in SP1: default query type
is "A+AAAA" instead of "A" (Vista RTM). I can do queries using A or AAAA type
but switching to new option A+AAAA results in crach of nslookup.exe.

Maybe this is related to mine router. I'm using Vigor 2700, firmware
2.6.5_ST. IPv6 connectivity is only local.

I have open support case in our local Microsoft Support Center.

Regards,
Jozef Izso.
