Explorer.exe Fails/Restarts in Vista Ultimate

Since applying the Microsoft fixes for Vista reliability and performance
recently, Windows Explorer will now fail when I attempt to open the Control
Panel - just by moving the mouse over the Control panel entry in the Start
window! I receive a pop-up message telling me Explorer failed and Windows
will search for a solution; it then restarts Explorer.

Any thoughts or advice? Thanks much....

uninstall the fixes ,they will probably cause more trouble than they are
worth and will clash with some of the sotware you have already installed
,hence the problems you have stated .in my experience ,limited though it is
,i would always install big fix downloads and sevice packs from a clean
install not when i have a load of other software on my system .

I just spent several hours reviewing extensive posts relating to this
explorer thing; what a friggin mess. Vista will go down in history as one of
the worst systems released by Microsoft. There were several hundred posts
just on this one topic alone, but no silver bullet solution. Microsoft has
got to step up and turn this 3-legged dog with fleas around.

I am having this exact same issue with the same error codes, time stamps and
fault offset. I have no solution anywhere.
