Fatal Error

I have a thinkpad 600e and but new RAM and a new HD to install windows xp.
I finished reformatting and then installing and now I am on the windows xp
install screen where it has to finish installing xp. Well during "preparing
installation" I encounter a fatal error that says:
"Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The
setup log files should contain more information.

Press Ok to view the Setup log file"

I then press ok and it brings me to a new window of the setup logs at
(C:\windows\setuperr.log) and says all kinds of information underneath such
as:
"Setup failed to install the catalogs with error d."

"Warning: setup failed to load the service pack suppart module. The specific
error code is 800b0100. Service pack suppart will not be run."

"Error:
Setup encountered the following unhandled exception"
and then this list goes on. I can type all of out if you want...

PLEASE HELP ME! sigh........figure this out.
