Hi all ...I really need help on this one.
I can't count how many times I've installed Windows without a hitch ... but
today I hit a wall!
Here are the details:
Newly built computer, all new components:
- Biostar motherboard M7NCG 400
- AMD Athlon XP 2200+
- 512 MB DDRAM PC 3200
- Western Digital 80G HD 8MB
- CD ROM
- CD-RW/DVD ROM combo
- floppy
That's it ... pretty basic.
Tried to install Windows XP Home, and have repeatedly gotten the following
error messages:
- Error that prevents setup from continuing
- Setup failed to instal the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The
setup log files should contain more info.
- The digital signature catalog D:\i386\NT5.CAT could not be installed. The
error code is 6be
- The remote procedure call failed.
- The signature for Windows XP Home Edition setup is invalid. Error code is
6be.
I also keep getting fatal stop errors, that suggest changing the video
adapter (which I tried with the same result), and possibly updating the BIOS.
(which I haven't tried yet.)
Am I missing something? Overlooking something?
Any suggestions, comments, or ideas will be greatly appreciated. I need to
get this computer finished yesterday.
Thank you!
