Immediate help needed.

One of my computers at a school I teach kept on giving me an error message
when trying to open up any document in microsoft word. It kept on asking for
Windows XP home edition service pack 1 cd, so today I put the CD and choice
to upgrade from the two options. It started the installation and stopped
half way through with a fatal error message. I don't remember exactly what
the error message said, but it said something about not recognizing
signature. After reading the the erro message I clicked on ok, thinking it
will end installation, but it just keeps on restarting. I tried the safe
mode but no response, I tried to get to the task manager no success. Can
anyone help me please.

You need to quote actual error messages which are complete!

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

Hope this helps.
