Service Pack 2 Error

S

Shingar

Hello, I am running Windows XP Pro, I am trying to install my Norton 360 but
it requires me to have the service Pack 2 (Or greater).

When I try to install I get an error telling me to go here
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/ as there is a problem with my
Registry Key. Upon doing so and using the "idate Windows or Office" I get
this message

"The product key found on this computer is a Volume License Key (VLK) that
has been blocked"

I have no idea why, my Windows came pre-installed on my Compaq.

How do I get this taken care of so I can get the service pack to work like
it's supposed to?

Thank You

If it came preinstalled on a Compaq and you haven't changed it (or anyone
else hasn't change it) then you need to contact Compaq support.

I'll take a guess:

The OP didn't buy the computer from a retail store.

-OR-

At some time, the OP gave the computer to a shop for repair.

Yes I was thinking that.

Just tell Compaq what you wrote in your first post. That summed up the
situation rather well.

And perhaps have the product key ready that should be on the side of the
machine, assuming you don't have a CD with the product key.
