Fat32 files to a NTFS drive?

If I have files on a fat32 drive, can I copy them(drag &
drop)to a NTFS drive? Would they read ok? What about a
folder burned from a fat32 drive to cd. Can I open it on
a NTFS computer?

Yes, Yes, & Yes. - Opps that's one yes too many. There are issues going the other way but it works both ways. CDRoms are neither NTFS or Fat. but their own format. Each format has their own rules and things are lost when transfering. But Fat is the simplist so there's nothing to lose transfering from Fat.

EG NTFS has a properties stream (multiple files under one file name) that is stored with the file. This will be lost if transfered to CD or Fat as neither support streams. But the main stream (eg the text in a text document) will transfer. Note Office file format supports multiple streams within the main stream so it DOES transfer.

Hi,

As long as the operating system can read and use the file system, you can
copy them over. WinXP can handle both just fine.

The files remain exactly the same, whichever file system they are on.
(And it is XP that is accessing, not somehow the files system of the
drive, so you can have a mixture of drives). Think of it like two
offices one using old Box files on shelves (FAT) the other drop folders
in file cabinets (NTFS) - you can take a letter from one and put it in
the other and it is the same letter
