Fat 32

Hi guys,

Here's my scenario, I got two HD's (80GB & 10GB). I used
the 80GB to be my master and the other as my slave.
I loaded W2K as my OS. The 10GB hd was from my previous
98 version (I don't want to reformat it since my wife is
pretty comfortable using it). The 10GB has 2 partitions
in it and whenever I use the w2k, all I can see is the
first partition, which is 5GB, of the 10GB hd. I've read
somewhere that I can still read/write FAT32 using NTFS.

Can someone please explain to me if there is a solution in
this scenario so I can read the 2nd partition of my 10GB
hard drive?

Thanks in advance

Hi, Richie.

It should be automatic, but you may need to go to Disk Management (quickest
way is to type at the Run line: diskmgmt.ms) and read the Help file about
importing a "foreign disk".

Win2K handles FAT32 as easily as it handles FAT12 from a floppy, FAT16, or
CDFS or UDF from a CD. The only restriction is that Win2K (and WinXP)
cannot format a volume larger than 32 GB as FAT32; you have to use Win9x/ME
to do the formatting (up to about 127 GB), after which Win2K can happily use
the whole volume.

I tried reading the help file regarding on how to import a
foreign disk but I don't think it fits my problem. The
W2K disk management has already detected my fat32 slave
and it also shows the capacity which is 10GB. But when I
tried accessing it on internet explorer, all it shows is
the first partition which is 5GB and the other 5GB is
gone. What should I do so W2K can read the second
partition in the slave HD?

thanks!
