Q.1How do i make the 10gb harddrive a slave so i can increase some space on
my computer i know there is a jumper i need to adjust on the hard drive but i
dont know where to put it out of the four choices
O.Can i boot my PC if i only put the 10gb harddrive which i got from another

Sorry I doubt that you could use it with the OS ,
UNLESS both PC's are of the same make, model, with the same
specifications Windows most likely will not run. There are
other OS which will do that but this is OT here...:)

OK now to your HW question, the setting you need is "SLAVE" and I
don't know why you got 4 choices.
I know 3:
1, Master (Stand alone)
2, Slave (with Master present)
3, Cable Select,
But hey you can't damage the PC if you try. No kidding, the PC might
not boot if you have two drives set as "Master" seen this here on
my old Acer, so just keep the cover off the PC and experiment, when
it boots and you can see in the BIOS, the correct drives you may
keep the System as it is...

Most likely you need to look for "SL" on the drive, and then use the
jumper.

The motherboard has little to do with this all, it's the "Operating
System" which will see the Hard-ware" ON the motherboard, and as I
said above, if the PC's are of a different type, (lets say the
CPU's) are different, Windows will not boot, at least my old version
Win98, when I put it into another PC with a different motherboard.

HTH,

You can put the 10 GB drive in as a slave without much trouble. It would
have been nice to let us know the make of the two drives (8 & 10 GB and we
could then tell you exactly how to set the jumpers.

If you put a drive in as a slave, the master drive MAY also have to have
it's jumper changed.

Don't know what OS the 10 GB drive has on it but if it is XP it probably
wouldn't boot. If it is Win 98, it probably will boot but some features
probably won't work correctly.

At the end of the drive where the jumper goes there should be markings right
on the hd for MA for master, SL for slave, and CL for cable. They should line
up with the jumpers for the setting. The pins for master will line up with MA
etc. As far as I know all hd's I've ever seen have had these labels either on
the black plastic or on the metal itself. Look closely and you should see it.
