fast switching killed by terminal services module

B

Bob K.

Xp pro stopped allowing fast user switching. Try to switch user but
bounce back immediately to logon screen. Event log implies terminal
services is not started, but am unable to start via admin tools ->
services, get module not found error. How do I reinstall (if
necessary) terminal services or fix ability to start it via admin
tools? Saw previous post about changing command line for svchost but
it's a little over my head.

Thanks in advance

Bob,

See if termsrv.dll is found in C:\Windows\System32\. If not, extract a copy
from CD. Also, run SFC /SCANNOW.
If this does not help, pls post the exact error as displayed on the screen.

Fast User Switching is dependent on Terminal Services.
You can't have the former without the latter.

Termsrv.dll was NOT in C:\Windows\System32\. Extracted it from XP cd
I386 folder to system32. Went to Admin Tools -> Services, started
Terminal Services, tried fast user switching........yippee! All is
well, thanks much.
