Terminal Services cannot Start

B

Benny Koay

Hi all,

Just curious what's wrong with my Win XP now...

My terminal service is set to "Automatic", but the service is always
"STOP" and it will not "START" by manually press or automatic. That's
why my "FAST SWITCHING USER" cannot work. Furthermore, I do not have
the "Log off" button, but when I right click the "START button" and I
have "Switch User".

Anyone can help?

Thank you.

You've written "now" - which makes me wonder what was wrong *before*, and
what you've done to fix it?

What errors do you get? Both as a popup message when you try to start the
service, and also in your event logs?

If you want to see "log off" and you're using the classic start
menu....right-click on the taskbar, go to properties, start menu, Customize,
and click "Display Log Off"

Hi Lanwench,

Thank you for your help so far...
You've written "now" - which makes me wonder what was wrong *before*, and
what you've done to fix it?

before, whenever the screen save appeared and the windows run into the
login screen, I can log into other account. After turn on the switching
mode but a patch from the some optimization site, even I can go back to
the login screen after I "RIGHT CLICK" Start + Select "Switch
User".....

but.. you cannot login to any other account, but yours.
What errors do you get? Both as a popup message when you try to start the
service, and also in your event logs?

Here is the message
"Could not start the Terminal Services service on the local computer.
Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to
run in does not implement the service"

I hope you can give me some hints.

Thank you.

OK - what is *that* about? What patch? From what optimization site?

I'd probably use system restore to go back to a time before you'd installed
the 'patch'.
