I have a compaq ez2200 that would shutdown due to cooling
fan not running which i know the motherboard causes this
to happen when it gets hot, i installed a newer power
supply and fan and it did run for awhile but not right
away when i started the pc. it should always run but it's
not so i tried another fan and still doesn't run what
could be the problem.

Check out the processor fan and heatsink.. make sure that the heatsink fins
are not full of dust.. replace both if necessary..

Hi,

There seems to be a problem with the heat sink, which is vital for the
cooling.
take the motherboard to a qualified technician and get it checked and
repaired by them, they wil put the right amount of heat sink and also adjust
hte fan so that it gets cooled properly.

Using a household fan to cool the computer is not enough.. take your machine
to a repairer or computer store (there is a difference), and get the
processor fan checked out..
