Failed uppgrade SP1

I have a legit Vista Home Prem 32 on an Acer Aspire 5110 AMD Turion 64x2
TL-52 1.60 GHz

Problem: Unable to complete install SP1, and gets code 0x80004005. It seems
to have to do with some kind of registration. I have a Windows Update that
works fine so it seems strange.

The only thing that changed (as I know of) is that now I have in the corner
of my lower right screen, a new message showing: Windows Vista (TM)
Evaluation copy. Build 6000 - I could have taken that if the install was a
success...
1. I'd like the SP1 to work - it really needs, the filetransfer sucks...
2. If I can´t get 1 as above, how do I get that stupid message away?

SP1 has not been released yet...except for evaluation which is a Beta
product.

Uninstall it and get SP1 when it's officially released

yea we all know that vista is in need of a sp1 but it has not been released
yet and I would not mess with a beta edition.

Let us be politically correct - It is SP1 RC1 - not a beta version. The
note regarding "Evaluation copy" usually signifies a good installation. The
note will automatically "disappear" June 2008 - the time limit of RC1.

There are two methods of installing RC1 via Windows Update and both require
a prior registry modification followed by two KBs (or three if BitLocker is
active) - you make no mention of the installation procedure.

Thanx for the answers - honestly I don't care what the upgrade is called as
long as it works. My method of uppgrading was real simple - DL from MS,
dubbelclicking and its running. It runs relatively smoothly the two first
parts but then on the third something happends...
