failed setup

Hangs when starting windows setup.
I have checked the drive to make sure that it is set to master.
drive is formated NTFS.
What else?

I think, we need some additional informations here. If this is an
upgrade installation, read "How to Troubleshoot Windows XP Setup
Problems When You Upgrade"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310064). Else you may want to
remove all devices that are not necessary to install Windows and
retry.
