Failed Reboot

I formatted my HDD on PC A. Half way through the setup window for xp pro, it
froze. I tried it 3x but it froze at exactly the same spot. So I took the HDD
out of PC A and put it in PC B and started with the XP pro cd like last time.
This time, it was working normally and I had no problems in installing XP pro
on the HDD.
I then moved the HDD back to PC A and it wont boot. It comes up with
"windows was not shut down correctly." if you pick start normally it freezes,
if you boot in safe mode it loads up the drivers but gets frozen at mup.sys.
I've tried 2 other HDD in PC A and it wont boot up. It freezes right after
the IDE compenent check.
I've done this several times before with the same PC A, I don't know whats
wrong.. Can soemone help?

so far, you have proven that the disk and your other pc is o.k. You have
also proven you got hardware problems on PC-A

Go into cmos on PC-A and turn off anything that might cause problems. Then
try booting into safe mode.

Turn off: Sound, Usb, Fiirewire, secondary controller, sata. To be on safe
side, pull secondary cables and floppy cable from motherboard. Select
conservative options such lowest speed (if 400mhz, use 333, if 333 use 166,
etc) Disable serial and paralle ports and see if you can get into safe mode
on the boot. Then work your way up to a normal system.
