F8 reloading xp home lock up

I have given my hard drive a clean format and want to reload xp home. Every
time i get to the agreement and am asked to press F8, it never works. All I
can do is press ESC (which reboots) I have a legit windows # on the side of
my case and a xp home cd. What might be the problem. Please help
 
Is this a retail package or an OEM copy of windows? If it is OEM you should
contact the manufacturer of the computer.
 
What do you mean it never works?
What EXACTLY happens after you press F8?
