Extracting boot image from XP CD

carlw

Sorry for the second post.

Anyway.

I have a copy of Windows XP that doesn't have SP1 applied
to it, and I wish to slipstream SP1 into another CD.
However, I'm not really looking forward to using the
Microsoft boot disks to boot to the CD. I'm wondering if
Microsoft allow extraction of the boot sector within the
XP CD (via using something like ISOBuster)?

If someone could reply ASAP, that would be great.

All Windows XP CDs are bootable. All you do is open your
BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.

Greetings --

The instructions at this site are for making a bootable,
slip-streamed Win2K installation CD, but they should work for WinXP,
as well.

Would Microsoft approve if I were to follow the MSFN guide on creating an
unattended XP CD - that required both the extraction and re-use of the XP
CD's boot sector, as well as the inclusion of an answer file (winnt.sif) and
any pre-SP2 security rollups?

Thanks in advance.

: There's a great guide here for Windows XP.
