extra DVD drive?

I recently installed a DVD-ROM in addition to my CD-RW and everything worked
fine. Today no program CD will work in either drive. Everyting locks up
when I put a program CD in either drive. I looked in Windows Explorer and
discovered a 3rd drive! In computer properties I see the two drives listed
plus Generic STEALTH DVD SCSI CdRom Device. What gives?

Check Device Manager for error codes and or non-starting devices.

No problems there. IT says all 3 are "working properly."

Try removing the bogus one from Device Manager and restart.

That third drive is (probably) a virtual drive installed by the DVD
writting software. I would look as the software side for a resolution
to the problem. What is the make of the DVD drive and what software did
you install with it?

It is a Samsung DVD and I had no software to install. I pulled it out of a
non-working computer and put it in my computer.
