external links open a "blank" IE6 window...

Roy

hello,

My default browser (ie6 right now) used to open from links in email or links
on desktop. now the browser window opens, but remains blank, with no url in
address bar. Also in these windows, none of the dropdown menu choices work,
and the "e"
icon is sort of "off-color" (ie almost ghosted out icon) when pressing
alt-tab to switch windows).

any ideas what may be wrong?

thanks for any help

Hi Roy, I persume you have another browser installed on your machine? FF no
doubt( a guess)

I think what has happened is that your Internet Shortcut, url and shortcut
file extension handlers have be hijacked by the other browser. If you open
the Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) and choose the Tools/Folder Options menu
and the File Types tab, and find the "Internet Shortcut" file extension
handler it should be something like "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\IExplore.exe" - nohome , and then some DDE values (too complicated
to explain here). You can repair this by re-installing IE (There should be a
setup.exe file in your Internet Explorer folder) OR there may be a registry
fix available from a MSVP site. They will no doubt reply to this thread with
a link to an alternative fix.

Regards.
