I have exactly the same problem. I have tried uninstalling everything
including the usb's and the external hard drive. I have partitioned and
formatted it iaw oem instructions.

Did you get yours going?

Disk Management, look up in Help and Support, Or r-click My Computer and
select "Manage", give it a drive letter that isn't used, or unhide the
hidden one that was assigned with TweakUI.

John Willi again...

I had the same problem...

Download a copy of TWEAK UI for MS Win XP and use the "My Computer" "Drives"
option to check whichever drive letter you are tying to use. Worked for me!

Hello
I did format the drive and it works mith my laptop but not with my desktop.
It does show up in the disk managment as 'usb2.0 storage device' and it is
activated.
Thanks for your reply

Hi John

Ok. It works. I had to manually assign a drive letter and to activate it
with the Teawk utility.
Thanks sutti

Hi Roger,

I have read your communication with others on this issue.
I have simular problems with one out of two HDD's in USB enclosures.
However with XP Professional systems there is never a problem.
They both work fine with those systems. Only XP home edition gives problems.
The always goed working enclosure has a CY7C68300A chip from Cypress built in.
The "trouble"enclosure has a Myson Century CS8818G chip. That has something
to do with it and the fact that XP professional accepts them both.
What is the difference in Microsofts software.
Any idea
