USB graphics cards will always be very very limited in speed, and it isn't really worth getting one in the vast majority of cases. If you really need to run games on your laptop, you'll probably need a new one (or a desktop).

USB just isn't designed to provide that sort of output :)

LCD Tv - Using usb external graphics card

I am not certain, but if you cannot run the LCD TV direct from your laptop at the moment it may not work from an addon.

Have a look here though

I did find some PCmcia cards though for TV might be ok - need to check out specs though ........

http://www.nextag.com/pcmcia-video-card/search-html

sorry if I am not meant to answer with being new .... just saves you searching. ok thats all ...........

Thanks Returned - Thankyou Frodo ...

I feel at ease now - some forums are not as polite as this one.

Thanks ..... I will continue trying to help - if I can -

If the information helps all well and good -

I will add one more thing its a program called

MIRO - http://www.getmiro.com/

I think its great - turns the pc into a database for Films and Documentaries etc .... works on most platforms too....

Good Built in viewer too -

By the way I use my LCD TV with films etc off the computer using an external DVD player I bought with a USB connection on it

I put the films onto a 4 Gig USB stick then just plug that in the DVD Player USB slot . (DVD player with USB 40 euros here)

Hope this helps - might be a temporary solution if you just want the connection for films music etc...

Ok all for now ..... and its a great forum ...... Cheers from 23dornot23d

Hope this helps ..... (you need to be able to burn a CD or get a friend to do one)

I guess if you have loads of design software on your computer that you are into design - so

You cannot afford upgrade -

So next option is to get the most out of your pc.

Try out one of the Linux Live CDs and see if you like it - have a look at my link

http://adventuresuk.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!9B2E76C5F75DF8EC!2538.entry

for some reason the above is not showing as a clickable link so use this and scroll down to Kanotix

http://adventuresuk.spaces.live.com/

see if you can get a copy of kanotix (or knoppix) - these I find will detect most things you have attached to your pc

Automatic and once you have the live CD - just put it in your drive and as long as you have your pc set to boot

from CD - Check out how to set your BIOS settings - to do this, or ask someone to do it for you.

Just reboot the PC and it should go straight into LINUX - do not panic - Windows is still there.

Just take the disk out once you have finished and your computer is exactly the same as it was before you used the disk.

Slax is a good system too - check this link

http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Syst...istributions/SLAX-KillBill-Edition-1957.shtml

some good design programs once up and running are BLENDER, WINGS3D, QCAD all free LINUX software.

Ok hope this helps but have gone off topic - the USB graphics card will basically give you output onto another monitor

thats about all - sorry if this does not help you - but have an excellent Xmas anyway.

Brief description of Kanotix to try and get you started it is easy once you have made the CD.
