exporting from one OL to another

hey folks.

i have just been doing some weeks work on the laptop, and want to move all
inbox items, sent items and contacts to my desktop, which i regularly work on.
I have a few PST files set up on each one, but have kept all the emails etc
tht i want to move to the desktop, in the "personal folders" default folder.

i have tried moving the outlook.pst file, but it seems to then ask me again
to setup outlook, email accounts etc, but i already had those installed and
dont want to mess with them again.

i have also tried to export inbox items from the laptop thu the export
wizard, and then import them on the other - but the emails all seem to lose
their date of arrival dates, and are marked as "none" in the inbox.

hope my setup i clear, and would appreciate any advice

thanks!

Then you don't seem to be doing the move correctly. Put the PST wherever
you want it (without overwriting another PST). Start Outlook and click
File>Open>Outlook Data File. Browse the PST, select it, and click OK. All
done. Also, see this:

Never export to or import from a PST. There's simply no need and you lose
data.

when i started off on the laptop - i had copied the PST from the dekstop to
the laptop. so in effect, all i need to move to the desktop - is the most
recent emails (sent and received) - and not the entire PST contents.

is there a way to do this?

thanks again.

Are you using only a single PST on the source machine? If so, it will
contain ALL mail. Whtever PST is your current delivery location is where
recent messages have been delivered. That PST will contain the recent data.

Right - so how do i extract only the recent data?

Sort the data by date, click the oldest, hold shift, click the newest, then
right-click and drag to where you want it. Choose Move or Copy as you wish.
