Explorer going offline for no apparent reason

Group,

My internet explorer has taken to going offline for no apparent reason.
When refreshing a page a dialogue box appears and says "No internet
connection available" with an option to "Work offline" or "Try again". When
the try again box is clicked, I am immediately reconnected and things go
along as normal. This is a recent occurrence.

What setting could be causing this?

I have tried changing firewall preferences, checked Microsoft anti-spyware,
checked ZoneAlarm, and AVG. None seem to have any preferences or possible
options that would cause this.

TIA for any help. Also, suggestions for posting to a more appropriate
newsgroup would be welcomed.

Hi,
See if anything at http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/9.html helps.

If running XP SP2, try IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable non-microsoft
add-ons to see if
one of them is the culprit. If not using SP2, try BHODemon 2.0:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html

Turn on the windows Firewall (Control Panel> Windows Firewall) and disable
(as a test) your third-party firewall and other third-party
security/ad-blocker programs or toolbars.

Have you scanned with Ad-aware and Spybot?

Hope this helps,
