Mobile websites not available for offline viewing

It appears that the mobile websites are not downloading correctly on my PC
while synchronizing. I use the Tools/ Synchronize method on Internet
Explorer to sync. The properties box lists the offline WebPages as updated
with a size of like 20 Kilobytes for each site. It seems only a link is
stored, as the pages will load if connected to the Internet. The sites will
not load while offline. The sites can be viewed if connected, but can not be
viewed offline. The "Make available offline" option is checked on the Mobile
Favorites Icon. I have had a Pocket PC for over two years, first a Dell X5
and now a X50.
Until recently, I had good luck downloading and viewing websites using
Mobile favorites. (the Avantgo channels download fine).

Any help getting me to view offline content will be appreciated.

Any help getting me to view offline content will be appreciated.

I have had this and numerous other problems with Avantgo...I'm finding
it really unstable at the moment and finally given up with it and am
looking for another offline content service.
These symptoms appear when you don't have the PocketPc client
installed, it will download the content but the short cut only shows
you a browser. Check your application list in Active sync, make sure
the Avantgo client is on the list and the checkbox is ticked so it is
actually pushed down to the PDA.
I've also had a multitude of messages such as client out of date when
its just been downloaded from their site and even on occasion when my
SDCard has been wiped while trying to fix it...comes with a health
warning IMHO...

The OP previously asked that we try www.cnn.com as an example.

When you say "short cut only shows you a browser"
can you be more precise please?

I explained that with the example site I get prompts
which can be bypassed. E.g. specifically if I use a Favorite
link I see the site's Title, URL and banner and then a prompt
Web page unavailable while offline
to which I can reply Stay Offline
The same prompt repeats 4 more times until finally the
last visited instance of the page can be seen offline.

Do you get such a prompt? If so what happens if you reply
Stay Offline with a stored Favorite for that site?

Also notice that the stored Favorite (at least on the desktop)
relies on the existence of files in the TIF, in particular
the main HTML document. So if your cache is empty or
if that particular document is marked non-cacheable
for your platform or if it is deleted for any reason
(e.g. because it is marked for immediate expiry)
you would have an explanation for your symptom
with that site.

Do you have any other sites which you think should work
as better examples?

BTW thanks for trying to help.
