explorer freezing (not R. Feinnes)

Help please,
When I go into internet explorer the page freezes. I cannot close or search.
If i open a new window it allows a search though, but will still not let me
close explorer at all. I have to use task manager to close.

things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?
