I can open folders that have shortcuts on my desktop such as My Music but if
I go in to My Computer and try to go to C drivethe screen flickers and
displays just my wall paper (not even desktop icons or start bar) then
everything reappears other than the window i'm trying to get to and i get the
error message.

Also, i seem to have got myself a Salm, which i can not get rid of. Could
this be causing the explorer error, i read in another post that trojans etc
can mimic explorer.exe, or something. How can i get rid of the salm? I have
tried running spyware program (McAfee) and it wasnt picked up. It is in my
temp folder and i cant right-click delete it.

Much appreciate any thoughts

Hi Matty,

Run these malware cleaners:

1. Lavasoft Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com
2. SpyBot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org
3. CWShredder - http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html

Update 1 & 2 before running a scan.

Many thanks Ramesh, SpyBot sorted out the salm, along with 115 other files on
my comp', and now I'm able to use windows explorer again.

Cheers

Matty

Thanks for the feedback, Matty. Issues of this kind, are often caused by malware BHOs.
