Explorer dont keep settings

I just got my old PC refreshed and Win2k was installed on the new.

However, Explorer seems to always forget the settings.
So far I was unable to get it working properly, here is what i did:

In Tools, Folder Options, View I set 'Like Current Folder' after setting
up the view of Explorer as should be, this did not help, it always
starts up i default way.

Secondly I used Taskbar & Start Menu, Advanced, Advanced, and under
Start Menu, Programs, Startup I put a link to Explorer so that it should
always start up at boot.

Then under properties, Shortcut, Start in I added 'C:\My start
directory'

However this had no impact whatsoever on the behaviour of Explorer.

It always starts up in minimized shape so you can not see what's there.

I want Explorer to always remember the latest view settings, the shape,
the width, height and what directory it was showing, all in all, it
should always startup exactly as it was left the last time I made a
shutdown so that I do not need to spend long time reconfiguring.

How can I fix this bug?

Put a check in "Remember each Folder's view settings" checkbox if you
want it to remember the view you set.

Then I suspect the setting aren't being saved to your profile. Are you a
"user", "administrator", or do you have any rights at all?

Windows Explorer uses Internet Explorer to provide the display. For some
unaccountable reason. the maximize/restore settings are not 'remembered' when
you set them from Windows Explorer; you have to do it from Internet Explorer.
AFAICT, there's no way to persuade Explorer to re-open at the folder you were
last looking at - although you can specify where it starts in the shortcut you
use to open it - e.g. a target of "C:\WINNT\explorer.exe /e" (without the
quotes) will cause Explorer always to open at C:\.

I think I managed to get this working on an XP machine, but there are
more settings in XP - Missing in Win2k. Probably you are right - I can
not get Explorer to remember how it was last setup. Bhaaa.............

Re-sizing _Internet_ Explorer to run maximised works for me to start Windows
Explorer maximised on W2K SP4
