Explorer can't open sites to download

I went to use a macromedia program I always use and it wouldn't work. I went
to download shockwave and it wouldn't download. I still have all of the
programs in my object file but they don't work. I went to try to download
other programs and nothing works. I have no viruses and I cannot figure it
out.

I even turned off my firewall

Suggestions:

Launch Internet Explorer and from the Toolbar select:
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Restore Defaults,
then click Apply.

Thanks Carey but that didn't work. I'm confused.
