I cannot clear my "Favourites" facility - I need to do so
because half of my favorites are visible and half
invisible wnen I activate the capability - so I have
exported the current favorites and the expor shows the
complete set - I would like to clean out the browser
favorites then import the list to re-establish a full
browser listing

Just out of curiosity, did you try unchecking "Enable Personalized Favorites
Menu" at Tools | Internet Options | Advanced?
