Maybe you're thinking of the same author's other successor program:
Xplorer 2, it's only been around for a couple of years. 2X is around,
but no longer supported by author, still has a forum.

I did run across that while looking for 2X, and got thoroughly confused, so
not much new there, then.

But TBH, I hadn't a clue about either, which seems a pity, it deserves to
be better known
