Excel2007 error: The converter failed to save the file

Computer running office 2007 try to open an excel file from sharepoint site
for edit. Error: (Save as) The converter failed to save the file. However, if
user start the Excel program before opening the file from sharepoint, no
problem at all, no error message and file saving fine. Anyone know how to fix
this issue?

I've seen some strange Excel/Sharepoint integration issues fixed by going to
EXCEL OPTIONS -> Resources -> Run Microsoft Office Diagnostics.

It finds nothing, but the integration issue seems to be resolved.

I've been told that if the URL of the file is too long (the sharepoint
file), it could also cause issues.
