Excel2002 safe mode startup

When trying to start excel any number of ways, its asking if I want to start
in safe mode because of a previous failure. If I answer No, it shutsdown,
but when answering YES, it ultimately asks for the installation CD.

I'm afraid that if I put in the CD, I'll wind up doing a complete Excel
re-install and I'll lose all add-ins, macros, etc. I haven't seen any
postings regarding safe mode needing the installation CD. Does anyone have
any ideas what I can expect when I finally do have the nerve to put the CD in?

Inserting the CD will do a detect and repair. It will not delete any files
or replace anything...they should all still exist after the repair... Go
ahead and put the CD In

Nick,

Thanks for the info. Problem solved!

You indicated that this would do a "detect and repair". I'd like to follow
up.
When I run the Control Panel's Add/Remove Program, select EXCEL and select
the "CHANGE" button, I get a Setup window giving me the options to "Add or
Remove Features", "Repair" or "Uninstall". Is this "Repair" the same process
that occured when I fed Excel the CD while in safe mode?

I suspect so but couldn't say for certain
