If Excel is installed properly on your computer you should be able to open
files with an .xls extension. In Excel, are you able to create a new .xls
file, then save it and open it? If not, there is something wrong with how
Excel is installed. The only other problem I can think of is if you have a
very early version on Excel which is unable to open late version Excel
files.
This is happening on my sister's PC. She's had Excel installed for a long
time. Yesterday she clicked onto what looked like a microsoft message on
resizing messages and since then she gets a message saying Windows cannot
open the file. I've checked for xls file downloads but there doesn't seem to
be a simple one download for her??
