Excel for Windows 95 upgrade - qualifying products

Fred

I had to crash and wipeout my harddrive, due to a
virus/worm. I have reinstalled my Windows 95 operating
system and upgraded it to 98. However, now, I can not
install my Excel for Windows 95 upgrade. Once installation
is started it goes until a window displays this, " you
must own one of the qualifying products listed on the box
that Mirosoft Excel for Windows 95 came in". I no longer
have the box and have installed everything I own. Does
anyone know what a "qualifying product" my be? Or how I
can install the Excel for Windows 95 upgrade program?
This problem has gone on for about 3 months, and I have
already spent $200.00 with the local PC tect. My hard
drive is not large enough to install a newer version of
Excel.
Thank you,
Bewildered and frustrated.

Qualifying products for Excel 95 from memory, were any prior version of
Excel, any prior version of Office (Std or Pro) and prior version of Lotus
123 or Lotus SmartSuite and may have extended to Microsoft works.

You do not need to load the prior version on, just have the disk 1 or CD.
When it gives that error it should also give you the opportunity to 'browse'
for the product. Direct it to the CD or disk drive with the start-up disk
and it will search prior to allowing you to swap back to your setup media
and continuing
