Excel File will not Open

I have a file approximately 8 MB in size that will not
open. The status bar progresses as if it is opening, but
it locks up at about 75%. I believe this is file specific
because I do not have a problem opening other files which
are larger in size.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to retrieve this
data or open the file?

It may well be corrupted, in which case you could try the Open and Repair
options in Excel 2002 / 2003 if you have access to these. If not, then will it
zip, and if so what size is the zipped file, as if it not too bad I will happily
have a go at recovering it for you if you want. Just let me know what size it
zips down to though.
