Excel crashes with no warning when saving formulas

I believe this is Excel 2000. If the user performs a simple edit on the
files without any formulas involved, the files do save fine. If the user
edits a file with formulas, or if she uses the cut/copy/paste method with
formulas into the file it doesn’t save and the program closes out completely.
The problem does periodically happen to two other users but it goes away for
them.

Solutions tried so far:
IT Tech:
User given full read/write and admin priviledges for the folders she works
in.
Added user to domain administrators group.
Had user log onto another user's machine.
Gave user new PC.

Network Admin:
Replaced network card
Switched router port
Replaced network cable
Got user out of Citrix so she is now using local excel.
Asked user not to edit files stored on the network.

My efforts (the most recent of all):
I have run "excel /safe" and "excel /automation" with the same problems
occuring.
I have unchecked Transition Forumula Evaluation per some KB article I read
but can't find the link to anymore. No dice.
I created a new profile for the user but that didn't work.
I created a new user name but that failed too.
I had the user login with my admin account and everything worked fine. I
also tried another test account (no special permissions) and it worked fine
as well! Uggg!

From all of the above it looks like a profile problem but the new
profile/login name didn't work. What else should I look for?

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

Perhaps the file is damaged by some reason. If necessary, you may try
Advanced Excel Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ This tool is
rather useful in salvaging damaged Excel xls files.
