Excel 2003 crashes with unknown software exception

Marcel

Hi,

I have a problem with multiple (all) machines (Dell Optiplex GX620) that are
running Win XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003 SP2 in a Novell file server
environment with Zen Desktop Management Agent active. When working in Excel
2003 after a while the users complain that Excel is getting slower and
slower. In all cases Excel crashes after a while when doing some actions
like tabbing, copying, scrolling, just simple things. Symptoms are also that
there are no line to the cells when you want to check the formulars.

The error is produces is:

"unknow software exception (0xc000001d) on location 0x7c81eb33"

Does anyone had the same experience or has a solution or hint where to
search?

This problem is also reported at Microsoft and under investigation, case is
still open...

Best regards,

Marcel Kollenaar

Update:

From the Novell forum I got a hint to look at Hyper-Threading option in the
bios. I disabled this HT and so far so good.
